Weekly Smoke & Bourbon: 08/04/19 – 08/10/19

This weeks pairing bring together the bold flavors of Small Batch 1792 bourbon with the My Father La Antiguedad cigar

“Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman – or a bad woman; it depends on how much happiness you can handle.”

George Burns

Overall Impressions:

The La Antiguedad and the 1792 both offer a unique blend of subtly sweet and spicy flavors. The similar flavor profile of the cigar accentuates and complements the otherwise subtle flavors of the bourbon.

The Cigar: (My Father La Antiguedad )

The La Antiguedad features an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Oscuro wrapper which covers a double Nicaraguan binder, which contains a collection of Nicaraguan tobaccos from the most prominent Nicaraguan tobacco fields.

The My Father cigars have become one of my favorite go-to smokes, and the La Antiguedad is no different. This stick offers a smooth full-bodied profile with a blend of spicy pepper and sweet cocoa flavors with a hint of coffee, and a pleasant earthy finish.

The Intoxicant: (Small Batch 1792 )

Taking its name after the year that Kentucky became a state, Small Batch 1792 is a bold mix of subtle flavors. This bourbon has a sweet appealing smell with light vanilla and spicy rye flavors.

1792 is one of those bourbons that doesn’t last long in my home. The moderate price point and quality flavor make it a perfect end of the day drink.

Vibe: “Enthusiastic Mindset”

While sitting outside enjoying this pairing, my mind began to wander as I thought about the future. Each sip of the bold, well balanced 1792 was like lightning in my veins as I became increasingly more excited for what life has in store for me. As I puffed the La Antiguedad, I felt as though I was on the right path and even though my goals may seem hard to reach and I may get discouraged, taking a moment to savor this delightful pairing helped cast those doubts aside and helped motivate me to keep planning on how to reach my goals.

At this moment everything I had set out to accomplish seemed within my grasp. Although that may have just been the whiskey talking.

Attitude and enthusiasm play a big part in my life. I get excited about the things that inspire me. I also believe in laughing and having a good time.
